If you’ve been to our Technical Documentation portal recently, you might have noticed a few updates to our Release Notes! The new features are summarized below and in the following video:
Access!
Previously, our Release Notes have only been available in PDF format on the Software Download page of the Support site and required you to log in to see them. Starting in PAN-OS 6.1, the Release Notes will also be available on the Technical Documentation site in HTML and PDF.
By integrating the Release Notes with the Technical Documentation we are able to link feature descriptions to relevant conceptual, task, or use case information. The new HTML format also enables us to publish updates to the Release Notes more frequently ensuring that you always see the latest content. Should you need to save a PDF for offline viewing, click the Download PDF button anywhere in the Release Notes.
Navigate!
To allow you to drill down to the exact content you need, we’ve added the following facets to the document search:
- Information Type > Release Note
- Release Information > Addressed Issues
- Release Information > Behavior Changes
- Release Information > Known Issues
- Release Information > Interoperability
- Release Information > Limitations
Selecting any of these facets updates the search results to show you only content that is tagged with that facet. To narrow your results even further, select facets for OS Version and Product Category. You can remove a search facet at any time by clicking the X under Current Facets at the top of the page.
Search!
Need to know the status of a particular issue and have the ID number? You can now search for the number in the document search and go directly to the topic that discusses that issue. For example entering 70222 in the search box takes you to the Known Issues topic for PAN-OS 6.1.0 and allows you to view information about that issue.
Keep in Touch!
We hope you like the new Release Notes format and find it easy to use. Let us know what you think by leaving a comment below or by emailing us at documentation@paloaltonetworks.com.
Happy reading,
