My last SecurityWeek column looked at the challenges businesses face when securing virtualized data centers. And as our CEO, Mark McLaughlin, told attendees at Goldman Sachs’ Cloud Computing Conference this month, these conversations are happening all the way up to the C-suite. Here’s Mark’s take:

Next week at VMworld, you’ll be hearing a lot about new innovations in software defined data centers. But our view is that virtualized and cloud environments are only as good as how well they are protected. Executives and IT administrators are starting to understand that next-generation data centers require next-generation security platforms.

We’ll be spending a lot of time at VMworld discussing our approach to network security and our strategic integration with VMware. Here’s how you can engage with us at the show:

See A Demo: Visit us at Booth 2305 for daily live technology demonstrations. Check out our VMworld event page for a full schedule.

Attend Our Breakout Session: Palo Alto Networks and VMware will co-present “VMware NSX and Next-Generation Security by Palo Alto Networks” (SEC-5755) on Tuesday, August 27, at 1 p.m.  If you’re not familiar with VMware NSX, it’s VMware’s answer to network virtualization, providing the ability to abstract logical networking devices and services from the physical network layer. You can read more about it here. NSX is also a distributed service framework and service insertion platform for delivering next-generation security services. In this session, we will be describing how we’re integrating with NSX to unlock the full potential of the software defined data center.

Talk To Our Geeks: Our product experts will be out in force at VMworld, and can offer executive briefings, technical deep dives and answers to all your questions.

We’ll see you there!
